My latest addition: The Springfield XDM Compact in 9mm and the Powder River Precision (PRP) Ultimate Easy fit XDM Trigger Kit
Stock the gun had a 6.6lb trigger and with the mod from PRP we got it down to 4lbs and cut 1/2 of the travel off the gun as well as shorten the reset! This really does get the XDM a bit closer to being like a 1911 and I am very pleased with the results. Spring Guns and Ammo did the install for me and had it back to me the following day.
Out of the box, the gun was a bit better than the standard XDM 9mm with the stock 4.5" barrel. The compact has the same 3.8" barrel as the XDM 3.8 but the compact gets a shorter grip. This allows use a a smaller 13 round compact magazine as well as the standard full size 19 round magazines with the included sleeves. The double spring setup for the recoil does a lot to keep the gun from kicking and with a smaller grip, you would think it would still have a bit, but it didnt. It actually feels more controllable than my full size XDM.
Since this is my carry piece, I wanted a concealed carry holster and a better trigger. The factory triggers on the XDM are fine but I wanted BETTER. I got that with the PRP Trigger Kit. I opted for their tactical carry trigger instead of the match trigger. I didnt need a hair trigger on the gun, just a shorter travel and lighter trigger. Since buying this gun 2 weeks ago, I have put about 1200 rounds through it (My wife and I attend our local IDPA meets as well as take instruction from a professional shooter).
When the package arrived, I was pleasantly surprised by the professional look and packaging of the product. From buying many itmes online, I am used to seeing a baggie with parts when I purchase something. Getting a blister package with everything in its own little space and a nice layout tells me the company I purchased from has a good chance of lasting and not a fly by night outfit.
Without a magazine the gun weighs in at 1lbs 8oz.
The gun is not too large with its 13+1 capacity magazine. I am finding I can wear almost anything and it conceals with my Tucker Heritage holster. Full, the gun comes in at an even 2lbs. Day to day I wear slacks and a standard button down fitted shirt. When meetings with friends and family, I will often as "How do I look" and have been getting the "You look like you lost weight!" answer, I then untuck the shirt to show concealed handgun I am wearing as well as looking trimmer. How that works, I have no idea other than I guess you dont tell an armed man "You look fat!".

An extra 2lbs isnt something my body notices so its been easy to wear all day. I even drive my camaro with its bucket seats with the gun on and have not had any problems. Getting out of the car is never easy for a low car but when you have a piece of steel limiting the bend you can apply it does make it a tad more awkward. I dont forsee many sports car people having an issue when they carry mainly because we tend to not care about the extra effort it may take to get out of the car since we will enjoy the drive to wherever we are going a bit more.
At the end of the day, I have accomplished my goal. Find a gun I can be happy to carry and do so. From looking at small sub compacts to the pocket guns available, I was just not finding what I wanted out there. Then Springfield made the XDM Compact. A smaller gun with many of the better features of the larger guns. This was the best route for me as I prefer 9mm over .40 and wanted a gun I could carry daily as well as use at my gun meets and lessons.
